Cath Kidston
We can learn a lot from other business owners. Here is a podcast worth listening to if you have 20 minutes to spare. There is a lot of learning from particular things Cath says and in the next few blogs I will draw some of it out.
Cath says what drove her in her business was passion and belief….money came later. What a revelation, and what a contrarian view to the one that business has to first be about profit. At Jennings Business Mentors we recognise the three drivers for business enterprise. Firstly passion, sometimes manifesting as self-belief, sometimes coming from a clear sense of purpose. Secondly a need to be independent, to be able to work when you want, where you want, how you want and with whom you want. This is freedom. Thirdly a need to generate income.
Importantly we have noticed that income is not usually the main driver. And this is exactly what Cath confirms in her blog. Infact if income is the main driver, then the passion disappears.
